Draft Environmental Assessment for Boone Project Available for Public Comment

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. – Tri-Cities residents have the opportunity to review and comment on a draft report on the possible environmental impacts of the proposed repair project to correct seepage in an earthen embankment at Boone Dam.

A draft of the Environmental Assessment was posted on TVA’s website on Wednesday, October 28, and will be available for public comment until Monday, November 30.

The report details the decision-making processes TVA used to develop a proposed repair for Boone Dam and examines the potential environmental impacts of both the current proposal as well as the other alternatives TVA considered.

Public comments can be submitted in several ways:

  • Contacting Matthew Higdon, NEPA Specialist, by e-mail at [email protected] or in writing at 400 West Summit Hill Drive, WT 11D, Knoxville, TN 37902,
  • Attending a special public meeting from 5:30-7:30 p.m., Thursday, November 5, 2015, at Daniel Boone High School located at 1440 Suncrest Drive in Johnson City, Tenn.
