CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — The Tennessee Valley Authority is issuing water and road traffic cautions for transmission line work that will span from just north of Savannah Creek to Chickamauga Dam. This work is part of several projects to upgrade TVA’s transmission system to ensure continued delivery of 99.999 percent reliable power.
Area residents should expect to see helicopters working in this area from Tuesday, April 24, through the weekend. Work will begin at 7 a.m. each day. Here are the line crossings that impact waterways and major roads.
Watercraft operators should avoid the areas or take extra precautions. Everyone in the area should heed warnings of the safety patrol boats and personnel that will be on patrol in the area. Marine channels 13, 16 and 81 will be monitored by the safety boats.
As the largest public power utility in the nation, TVA reinvests back into the power grid to improve reliability and lower energy costs. Investing in the transmission system ensures reliability while lowering effective wholesale electric rates, which are now two percent below 2013 levels.
