TVA Issues River Traffic Caution on Tennessee River
DECATUR, Ala. – The Tennessee Valley Authority has issued a river traffic caution during transmission line work beginning Monday, June 8.
Between June 8 and 18, TVA transmission line construction crews will be replacing a wire on the Morgan Energy Center-Limestone 161-kilovolt Transmission Line along the portion that crosses the river.
Watercraft operators should avoid the area or take extra precautions around River Mile 301.5, near Round Island Public Use Area, but across the width of the river. Everyone in the area should heed warnings of two TVA Police patrol boat and seven safety patrol boats that will be on watch in the area. Marine channels 16 and 13 will be monitored by the safety boats.
Work is scheduled from 7 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. CDT as the wire is being removed and replaced with new conductor. Workers will be present on weekdays and possibly on the weekend.
