The recent wetter and cooler weather in the Tennessee Valley has sufficiently reduced the fire danger to allow TVA to lift its burn ban on the public lands it manages across its seven-state service area. The public is still urged to use extreme caution when using any open flame or heat-producing sources due to ongoing drought conditions.
The majority of TVA’s public areas have already re-opened to the public. Exceptions include areas that are typically closed during the winter season and isolated, undeveloped locations that remain under heightened fire risk. Along with other federal, state and local agencies, TVA will continue to monitor the fire danger and will take any additional steps necessary to help protect the public.
