FONTANA VILLAGE, N.C. — The Tennessee Valley Authority, the North Carolina National Guard, the South Carolina National Guard and local law enforcement agencies have scheduled a joint security exercise at TVA’s Fontana Dam from Friday, June 9, through Monday, June 12.

National Guard soldiers, TVA Police officers and local law enforcement officers will be conducting simulated operations on and around Fontana Dam which will help ensure the agencies are prepared in the unlikely event of an incident at the dam. Visitors can expect to see increased activity and vehicles during the exercise.

Activities have been designed to minimize impact on public areas at the dam, which will remain open. For the safety of visitors, as well as exercise participants, please do not enter locations that are barricaded or where exercise activities are currently underway.
