TVA Presents Plans for Proposed Transmission Project at Vonore
VONORE, Tenn – The Tennessee Valley Authority is proposing upgrades to its transmission system which would improve reliability and provide power for growing load in the Madisonville, Vonore, and Greenback, Tennessee areas.
TVA is proposing to build 8 to 8.5 miles of transmission line to provide power to TVA’s new Vonore 161-kV station. The new line would begin at TVA’s Athens-Loudon 161-kV transmission line (tap to Sweetwater, tap to Madisonville) and extend northeast to TVA’s new Vonore 161-kV station on Old Slag Road. The new line would be built on steel pole structures on 100-foot-wide right of way using an existing 50-foot-wide right of way and acquiring an additional 50 feet of new right of way.
TVA is committed to working with area stakeholders during the course of the project. Members of the public are encouraged to attend an information day from 3-7 p.m. local time on Thursday, April 18, 2019, at the Vonore Community Center, 611 Church Street, Vonore, Tennessee.
Detailed maps showing the location being considered for the proposed transmission line will be available. TVA staff will answer questions and discuss concerns. More information is available at www.tva.com/transmissionprojects.
