TVA Proposed Transmission Project in Winston and Noxubee Counties

Nov 12, 2019

MACON, Miss. — The Tennessee Valley Authority is proposing upgrades to its transmission system, which involves building 17 to 20 miles of single-circuit transmission line. The proposed transmission improvements would increase power reliability in parts of Winston and Noxubee counties in Mississippi.

The new line would connect TVA’s existing Midway 161-kilovolt substation at 13253 Highway 14 East in Winston County to TVA’s existing South Macon 161-kilovolt substation at 9715 Highway 45 in Noxubee County.

TVA is committed to working with area stakeholders during the course of the project and encourages public input. Members of the public are encouraged to attend an open house from 3 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 21, 2019 at Noxubee County Civic Center at 228 Sportsplex Drive in Macon, Mississippi.

Detailed maps showing the location being considered for the proposed transmission line will be available. TVA staff will answer questions, discuss concerns and receive comments. There are multiple possible transmission line routes under consideration. More information is available https://www.tva.com/transmissionprojects. Comments will be accepted through Dec. 23, 2019.
