MEMPHIS, Tenn.Riverview Elementary students will soon benefit from sturdy benches formerly used at the Tennessee Valley Authority’s decommissioned Allen Fossil Plant. The benches are being donated during a special event on Thursday, Dec. 5, at 1 p.m. CT at the school located at 241 Majuba Avenue, and media representatives are invited to attend.
The benches were once a part of the Allen Plant’s maintenance locker rooms and have been refurbished by TVA employees for use by student athletes in the Riverview Elementary locker rooms.
“At Riverview, we have a saying of ‘Stronger Together’ and this donation is a piece of our commitment to bringing the community, families and schools together," said Tamika Williams, student support specialist at Communities in Schools of Memphis.
