TVA Seeks Public Help in Cemetery Identification at Gallatin

Jan 21, 2020

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee Valley Authority is considering relocation of family cemeteries within the Gallatin Fossil Plant property located in Sumner County, Tennessee, and is seeking assistance and input from the public to identify families associated with these cemeteries.

These cemeteries were on the property located at 1499 Steam Plant Road in Gallatin when TVA purchased the land in the 1950s. TVA is currently gathering genealogical and historical information. Descendants and members of the community who can provide additional information related to the cemeteries or names associated with the cemeteries should contact TVA at [email protected] or by phone at (865) 632-2911.

A detailed list of names and dates identified can be found on the Gallatin Fossil Plant web page here.

The proposed relocation of cemeteries is part of a detailed Environmental Impact Statement available for review at www.tva.com/nepa. Appropriate environmental and other reviews will be conducted if TVA decides to relocate the cemeteries.
