TVA Seeks Public Input on Wastewater Treatment Project at Cumberland Fossil Plant

Apr 10, 2019

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee Valley Authority is asking the public to provide comments on a planned wastewater treatment project at its Cumberland Fossil Plant in Cumberland City, Tennessee. This will be the first system of its kind at a TVA fossil plant.

Details on the project are part of a draft Environmental Assessment posted at www.tva.com/nepa. This review will consider the potential environmental impacts of the construction and operation of wastewater treatment facilities onsite.

The proposal includes construction of facilities in three stages to manage wastewater from the air emissions system and other processes for power production at Cumberland. The proposed systems would help TVA comply with effluent limitation guidelines set by the Environmental Protection Agency, when those guidelines are final.

Comments on the draft EA can be submitted through May 3, 2019 online at www.tva.com/nepa, by email at [email protected], or in writing to Ashley Farless, NEPA Specialist, 1101 Market Street, BR 2C-C, Chattanooga, TN 37402.

Comments received, including names and addresses, will become part of the project administrative record and will be available for public inspection.
