FLORENCE, Ala. — A combination of winter driving conditions and facility maintenance will force the temporary closure of Cox Creek Parkway/Reservation Road over Wilson Dam near Florence, Ala., beginning on Thursday morning, Jan. 5, 2017.

Expected colder weather will likely create hazardous driving on the road across the dam beginning on Thursday. Although weather conditions should improve early next week, planned maintenance on equipment along the top of the dam requires a continued closure for the safety of drivers, as well as workers.

The road should reopen Thursday evening, Jan. 12.

Barriers and gates will be in place during the temporary closure. Drivers are encouraged to use the Singing River Bridge on State Highway 133/157 as an alternate route.
