Watts Bar Training Exercise to Involve TVA, Federal, State, and Local Agencies

Aug 11, 2017

SPRING CITY, Tenn. – Emergency responders from federal, state and local agencies will join Tennessee Valley Authority personnel in an emergency preparedness training drill involving the Watts Bar nuclear plant on Wednesday, August 16.

The drill is part of an ongoing series of exercises required by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission to ensure an effective and coordinated response to protect the health and safety of the public in the unlikely event of an emergency at Watts Bar.

Wednesday’s drill will involve hundreds of personnel working in multiple locations, including near the plant. Residents may see increased vehicle traffic in the local area during the drill.

The training drill will lead to a similar graded exercise on December 13, and results will be shared in a public meeting after the December exercise.
