FLORENCE, Ala. — Above-average spring rains have delayed the final stages of planned maintenance work on Wilson Dam and will extend the current closure of Cox Creek Parkway/Reservation Road over the dam for an additional week. The roadway is now expected to reopen on Thursday, March 30.

Workers are completing a number of routine maintenance activities on the dam’s 49 spillway gates. The narrow workspace available requires the closure of the road for the safety of motorists and workers.

Barriers and gates remain in place, and drivers are encouraged to use the Winging River Bridge on State Highway 133/157 as an alternate route.
