Performance Evaluation Technician
Science Career
Sagar Madaan takes his inquisitive nature to new heights – literally.
He climbs to the top of the smokestacks at TVA’s fossil fleet to collect samples for emissions testing. He’s a performance evaluation technician in TVA’s Central Labs.
Madaan, from Delhi, India, leads with kindness.
“Traveling around the region like I do, I get to meet all types of people and build relationships,” he said. “It’s what TVA does, too. TVA cares for people in surrounding communities. It’s the core of who we are.”
A Day in the Life
Madaan is on the road a lot. TVA has fossil power plants across the seven-state region.
His team conducts lab tests on the samples to ensure TVA’s fossil power plants comply with air emission standards.
“Our team verifies that flue gas being output by each unit is below the limits set by the EPA. We also perform calculation and generate summaries of that data for plant personnel,” Madaan said.
He’s naturally curious.
“I’ve been told I like to ask a lot of questions,” Madaan said.
He started at TVA as a tool clerk at the Gallatin Fossil Plant. He enjoys discovering new technology.
