Gallatin Combustion Turbine Plant
Gallatin Combustion Turbine Plant is located on the west bank of the Cumberland River adjacent to the Gallatin Fossil Plant in Gallatin, Tenn. The plant has eight combustion turbine units that can power more than 312,000 homes.
Gallatin went into operation in 1975. The original four combustion turbine units are capable of dual fuel with both natural gas and fuel oil operations. When these units were installed, they represented some of the most technically advanced units in the world.
Four combustion turbine units were later installed and commissioned in 2000. These units are considered the best-in-class turbines and are the workhorses of combustion turbine fleets around the world. The units are dual fuel with both natural gas and fuel oil.
In 2019, TVA began an upgrade project for the original four combustion units.
