Internships & Co-ops

Spring internship and co-op opportunities will be posted from August 28 - November 6, 2024.

Summer internship and co-op opportunities will be posted from January 8 - March 2, 2025.

Our internships not only include making a difference in your community they also include professional development opportunities such as workshops and mentorship programs. Within your time at TVA, you will build a network and have valuable opportunities that help develop skills for future careers.

We have opportunities in various fields including science, operations, government law, business, technology, and more. Internships are a great way to get hands-on-experience in your desired field of study. We have opportunities available across the Valley in Chattanooga, Knoxville, Huntsville and Memphis. Hybrid internships are available as well.

Getting valuable work experience is just one of the perks. Our internships are paid hourly and based on your class standing (grad student, senior, junior, etc.). For students whose address is over 50 miles away from your official TVA workstation, you may be eligible for housing assistance.

To be eligible to apply for an internship you must:

  • Be at least 18 years old.
  • Be a U.S. citizen or authorized to work in the United States.
  • Enrolled in an accredited two- or four-year college/university.
  • Successfully completed at least 30 credit hours of college courses.

Q. How do I apply?

A. Click the find jobs button and fill out the application. See the "How to Apply Guide" to learn more.

Q. I don’t see the listing; can I still apply?

A. If you do not see the listing, that means we are not currently hiring interns. We hire for Summer, Fall and Spring terms.

Q. Does TVA hire interns as full-time employees?

A. TVA is committed to converting as many of our high-performing interns as possible. If your manager has an entry-level opening and feels you would be a great fit for the team following your graduation, they can offer you a contingent, full-time employment offer.

Q. Can Veterans apply?

A. If you meet all the requirements, you are encouraged to apply. In fact, Veterans made up 4% of the Fiscal Year 2023 intern group.

Q. Can I apply if a relative works at TVA?

A. Students who are the son, daughter, stepson, stepdaughter, husband or wife of an officer of the company (vice president and above) will be required to disclose name, title, department and relationship information on their application.
