Tom Rice

Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer

Tom Rice serves as the senior vice president and Chief Financial Officer for the Tennessee Valley Authority. In this role, he’s responsible for directing all of TVA’s financial functions, including treasury, risk management, accounting, financial operations and performance, financial planning and investor relations.

Prior to assuming his current role, Tom served as senior vice president, Finance, where he oversaw TVA’s Treasury & Risk, Corporate Accounting, Financial Operations & Performance, and Enterprise Planning organizations. He’s also served as the company’s Treasurer and Chief Risk Officer, vice president of Financial Operations & Performance, and director, Business Planning and Analysis.

Since joining TVA in 2002, Tom has served in a variety of leadership roles including director of Demand Side Pricing & Strategy, senior manager of Capacity Planning & Fleet Strategy, senior manager of Metrics & Performance Analysis, and manager of Power Trading. 

He earned a bachelor’s degree in economics from King University, an MBA from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, and is a graduate of the MIT/INPO Reactor Technology Course for Utility Executives. 

Rice resides in Chattanooga with his wife and two children.
