Brownsville Combustion Turbine Plant sits on 136 acres in Haywood County, Tenn., approximately five miles southeast of Brownsville. It is located near the Hatchie River and Hatchie National Wildlife Refuge. The plant can power more than 249,000 homes.

Brownsville is a simple cycle plant with four turbine generators. Units 1 and 2 are gas turbines with steam injection, and units 3 and 4 are gas turbines with water injection.

TVA purchased Brownsville in 2008 from Duke Energy. It was originally constructed in 1999 by Enron.
