Magnolia Combined Cycle Plant
Magnolia Combined Cycle Plant is a three-unit, natural gas-fired generating plant, located on approximately 374 acres in Benton County, Miss., near the town of Ashland. The facility is TVA’s largest operating combined cycle plant and can power more than 556,000 homes.
Magnolia is set up in a one-on-one combined cycle configuration, consisting of one combustion turbine generator, one steam turbine generator, and one heat recovery steam generator (HRSG) with selective catalytic reduction. Each HRSG has natural gas duct firing capacity to increase steam flow during peak demand, meaning it can create up to 150 more megawatts using exhaust from the combustion turbine.
Magnolia was commissioned in August 2003 and acquired by TVA in August 2011.
