ELG Rule Compliance Data and Information

In May 2024, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) finalized regulations generally known as the Steam Electric Effluent Limitations Guidelines (ELG) Rule that govern certain discharge limitations in the Steam Electric Power Generating category (40 CFR Part 423). The ELG Rule establishes technical requirements and discharge standards for wastewaters generated at coal fired power plants such as flue gas desulfurization wastewater, bottom ash transport water, and combustion residual leachate. The ELG rule also establishes a new set of definitions and establishes new effluent limitations for various legacy wastewaters, which may be present in surface impoundments.

On this page, you will find reports, links and other required information for each of the current TVA fossil plants impacted by the ELG rule. Unless required otherwise in the ELG Rule, information posted to this page will be available for a period of no less than ten years from the initial posting date.

Following guidelines in the ELG Rule, TVA identified five coal-fired facilities subject to the reporting requirements of the ELG Rule: Bull Run (BRF), Cumberland (CUF), Gallatin (GAF), Kingston (KIF) and Shawnee (SHF).
