Access Road and Borrow Areas for the Cumberland Fossil Plant
Stewart County, Tennessee
On August 15, 2017, TVA issued a final Environmental Assessment (EA) and Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) for the construction and operation of a new Access Road and Borrow Site at the Cumberland Fossil Plant (CUF). The plant is located in Stewart County, Tennessee.
TVA proposes to partially close the Fly Ash and Gypsum Stacks in accordance with Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation (TDEC) regulations. TVA has identified suitable cover soil, general fill, and topsoil material on CUF property adjacent
to existing plant operations that can support this action. This project also includes the construction of an access road and bridge on CUF property, from the plant to Old Scott Road to provide access to the proposed borrow areas.
This project
supports TVA’s compliance with existing TDEC gypsum stack and fly ash stack permits.
