Cumberland Solar Farm
Limestone County, Alabama
On February 7, 2018, TVA issued a final environmental assessment (EA) and finding of no significant impact for its proposed purchase of power from the Cumberland Land Holdings, LLC 20-megawatt Cumberland Solar Facility in Limestone County Alabama. The photovoltaic solar generating facility, currently scheduled for completion in late 2018, would occupy approximately 140 acres of a 155-acre tract, approximately 20 miles northwest of Huntsville, Alabama. The proposed solar facility would be connected to the immediately adjacent TVA-owned Ardmore Substation by an overhead 44-kilovolt (kV) power line originating at a new on-site substation near the existing TVA Ardmore Substation. The connecting power line would be constructed and owned by Cumberland Land Holdings, LLC and would terminate at a new pole and switch constructed and owned by TVA on the Ardmore Substation property.
The EA describes the anticipated environmental impacts of the construction and operation of the solar generating facility and associated electrical connection.
