Jolly’s Rock Bank Stabilization Project
Tims Ford Reservoir, Franklin County, Tennessee
In July 2017, TVA completed an environmental assessment (EA) and issued a finding of no significant impact (FONSI) for the proposed placement of rock riprap along 250 feet of shoreline at Elk River Mile 139 on Tims Ford Reservoir in Franklin County, Tennessee. This section of the river is locally referred to as Jolly’s Rock. The project is intended to minimize the destabilization and erosion of the shoreline and banks of the island and the resultant turbidity and sedimentation of reservoir waters. The project supports and is consistent with TVA’s mission of environmental stewardship, the objectives for water resource management in the TVA Natural Resources Plan (NRP, 2011), and TVA’s management goals set forth in TVA’s Tims Ford Reservoir Land Management Plan (RLMP, 2000).
