Providence Solar Center

Madison County, Tennessee

On March 1, 2016, TVA issued a final environmental assessment (EA) and finding of no significant impact for its proposed power purchase of power from the Providence Solar Center, a 20-megawatt (alternating current) solar generating facility proposed to be constructed and operated by Silicon Ranch Corporation in Madison County, Tennessee.

The Providence Solar Center , scheduled for completion in late 2016, would occupy about 118 acres located near U.S. Highway 70 near the community of Denmark about 13 miles west of Jackson.  The facility would tie into a nearby Southwest Tennessee Electric Membership Corporation substation.

The EA describes the anticipated environmental impacts of the construction and operation of the solar generating facility and associated electrical connection. TVA issued a draft of the EA for public review and comment in December, 2015. The final EA addresses the comments that TVA received on the draft EA and provides updated information about the proposed solar generating facility and electrical connection.
