Browns Ferry Marina at Wheeler Reservoir Recreation Easement and Section 26a Approval Environmental Assessment

On August 10, 2026, TVA issued a final environmental assessment (EA) and finding of no significant impact (FONSI) evaluating a request by Browns Ferry Marina, LLC(Applicant) for a recreation easement and Section 26a permit approval for the proposed construction and operation of a commercial marina and associated facilities on Wheeler Reservoir in Limestone County, Alabama.

The proposed marina facilities would be sited on approximately 22.8 acres of private land and inundated TVA reservoir property (the Project Area). The Project is located on and along the Wheeler Reservoir Limestone County, Alabama. The proposed Project would include approximately 290 public boat slips, a boat ramp, a marina store, fuel docks, a wave break, utilities to service boat slips, dry storage, and associated infrastructure. TVA’s action includes approval of the construction of proposed facilities within TVA’s flowage easement and approval of a 30-year easement for operation of the commercial marina.

In considering this request, TVA seeks to manage reservoir lands in a way that maintains the quality of life by providing recreational opportunities for the people of the TVA region.

The process to formally grant the requested recreation easement and Section 26a permit is separate from the NEPA process. A final decision on this proposal is expected by the end of 2026.

On April 22, 2026, TVA published a public notice informing the public of this request. Comments were collected from the general public and other stakeholders from April 22, 2026 through May 22, 2026. No comments were received.
