Ridgely Energy Farm

Lake County, Tennessee

TVA approved a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) to purchase the electricity generated by the Ridgely Energy Farm Solar Project in Lake County, Tennessee. The project will be constructed by Ridgely Energy Farm, LLC and is expected to generate up to 177 megawatts (MW) of alternating current (AC) capacity. In addition to purchasing the electric output under the PPA with Ridgely Energy Farm, LLC, TVA also plans to install a switching station as part of the project, referred to as the Lake County Switching Station.

The project is located 2 miles north of the City of Ridgely in Lake County, TN. The project site has been designed to occupy approximately 2,404 acres of land on which the solar array footprints, transmission right of way upgrades, connection lines, gen-tie, and the Lake County Switching Station and associated access roads would be constructed. The Ridgely Solar generating facility would consist of multiple parallel rows of photovoltaic (PV) panels on single-axis tracking structures, direct current (DC) to AC inverters, and transformers.

Customer demand for cleaner energy prompted TVA to release a request for proposal (RFP) for renewable energy resources (2019 Renewable RFP). The Ridgely Solar Energy Farm, LLC PPA that resulted from this RFP will help TVA meet immediate needs for additional renewable generating capacity in response to customer demands and fulfill the renewable energy goals established in the 2019 Integrated Resource Plan (IRP). The proposed action would provide cost-effective renewable energy consistent with the IRP and TVA goals.

On April 8, 2021, TVA completed an environmental assessment (EA) and finding of no significant impact (FONSI) for the proposed solar facility in Lake County, Tennessee. The Ridgely Energy Farm will provide up to 177 MW AC generating capacity in accordance with the terms of the PPA.
