Ripley II Solar Environmental Assessment
Lauderdale County, Tennessee
August 15, 2024
The Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) is preparing an environmental assessment (EA) pursuant to the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), considering the potential purchase of electricity generated by the proposed Ripley II Solar Project in Lauderdale County, TN. The solar facility would be constructed and operated by SR Ripley II, LLC, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Silicon Ranch Corporation. Under the terms of the Power Purchase Agreement (PPA), TVA would purchase the electric output generated by the Ripley II solar facility for a term of 20 years, subject to satisfactory completion of all applicable environmental reviews. The project would occupy approximately 194 acres on a 490-acre tract of land currently zoned for High Density/Mobile Home and General Business and is comprised mostly of agricultural fields. TVA has consulted with U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, the Tennessee Historic Commission, and federally recognized tribes about the proposal.
On July 15, TVA issued a draft EA for public review. Public comments on the draft EA were accepted through August 14, 2024. TVA anticipates that the final EA will be published in late 2024-early 2025.
