TVA Board Selects New Board Chair and Chair-Elect

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee Valley Board of Directors has selected Director Mitch Graves to serve as Chair of the Board until April 1, 2027.  The Board has also selected Director Jeff Hagood to serve as Chair-elect, following Director Graves’ term as chair. 

“Over the last few months, Directors Graves and Hagood have been tremendous advocates for TVA as we work together to unleash American energy,” said TVA President and CEO Don Moul. “Director Graves has served on the Board and Chair of TVA’s largest customer – MLGW – and Director Hagood, a prominent lawyer, has demonstrated experience growing and running successful businesses. With these experienced leaders, in addition to the rest of the Board of Directors and TVA’s dedicated and talented employees, TVA is well positioned to power opportunity in the Valley.”

The Board of Directors selects one of its members to serve as Chair of the Board. TVA Board members are appointed by the President of the United States and confirmed by the U.S. Senate.

Mitch Graves 

Mitch Graves of Memphis, Tennessee, has served on the Memphis Light Gas and Water Board for nearly a decade, including time as Chair and interim CEO. He serves as CEO of West Cancer Center & Research Institute and has more than 30 years of health care leadership experience. As a lifelong and fourth-generation Memphian, Graves has remained active in his community, serving numerous local organizations. His term will expire May 18, 2029. 

Jeff Hagood 

Jeff Hagood of Knoxville, Tennessee, is a lawyer and businessman who has for decades provided legal counsel to leaders across the Tennessee Valley in business, sports, politics and community life. He has also built a diverse portfolio of successful business ventures and offers strategic counsel on numerous charitable boards. He grew up down the road from the John Sevier Fossil Plant, and his mother and other family members worked for TVA. His term will expire May 18, 2029.
